Kind of a Disaster

I gave Colby a haircut last night (coughing nervously).

It's not my fault it turned out that way!

Though I managed to salvage it okay, this is undoubtedly the worst haircut Colby's received in our five years of marriage. After oiling my electric clippers, I forgot to replace the attachment. I shaved a 6" strip up the back of his head before I realized my mistake; I almost swore. It took over 40 minutes of careful blending and snipping to recover my blunder and produce a semi-decent-looking, military-short new 'do.

The huge bald spot only shows when he turns his head to the side.

They should put a warning label on those clippers.

  1. Oh no! I won't show Klane this story, because I'm always trying to convince him that I would be perfectly capable of cutting his hair. But I can totally see this happening to me! :) Thanks for the funny story though! I'm sure he looks just fine.

  2. Haha ha! Oh funny.
A couple weeks ago, my brother was in town and needed a hair cut. My mom usually does it for him but she wasn't home yet, so I decided I was perfectly capable of doing it myself. How hard could it be, right??
So I grabbed the clippers, not noticing that there was NO guide on there, and I did exactly the same thing! HUGE chunk off the back. Whoops. So after that I tried just using the scissors... not good either.
Who knew it could be so hard??
Luckily my mom was able to MOSTLY fix the damage. Whew!!

  3. So Rachel, we need to get together! Kara was in town yesterday before they flew out to Virginia. But, they will be back on the 31st, and I said I would see if that day would work for you for all of us to get together! Will you be around and up for a dinner that day? I will try to call you soon. If I don't get around to it, my new cell is (801) 310-8402.

  4. oh no! that's too funny!!

and that is also exactly why i absolutely refuse to cut tyler's hair, even though he always asks me to. i KNOW something's going to go horribly wrong if i do it, so i stay far, far away.

if you, my talented, crafty friend somehow managed to have a mishap, i am 100% guaranteed to do it.

    :)

  5. HA ha that is awesome! After paying for Ryan's haircuts the last 4 years, we decided I am going to do it now. I made my first attempt a couple weeks ago and it went well. I just tell myself it grows back right? Although Ryan doubts his would.

  6. Yeah, I'm still laughing. I guess to save face I should have included the following disclaimers: First, Colby's hair is REALLY hard to cut. Second, I've been cutting his hair for five years and have never done anything like that. So don't let your husbands be too worried....it's really not that scary.

  8. Rachel, that was probably the hardest I have laughed all day. Funny thing is, the exact same thing happened the first and last time I cut Steve's hair :) we love you guys!
